When did that happen?

Glancing out of the dining room window yesterday I realised there was something very, very red in the side border. In my defence I wasn’t wearing my glasses so it was all a bit of a blur, but for a moment I wondered what had suddenly produced a mass of red berries. Then it occurred to me that it’s autumn, and the fence has a Virginia creeper growing over it. Somehow it did this without us noticing.

Pretty, isn’t it?

  1. Carolina and Virginia Creeper (along with Poison Ivy) leaves turn a nice red in the fall. The creepers can cause skin rashes similar to Poison Ivy, so just be aware of this when this vine gets out of hand.
