November blooms and berries

Yesterday J stood at the dining room window and said “Have you seen what’s happening in the garden?” He’d noticed that the nearest mahonia to the house was now in flower – the first one we planted here, and I can only hope that the other two are as happy.

Also bursting into flower is the largest of our hellebores, which has been quietly taking over its corner of the flower bed.

Elsewhere, one of the skimmias is looking very promising:

And we have some bright cotoneaster berries for the birds!
