Remarkably, as we have done relatively little so far, it’s not looking too bad. Yes, there’s some weeding and the wallflowers will have to go soon, but on the whole I’m pleased.
The front garden:
The wallflowers have been amazing, mainly because they were last year’s plants, didn’t do much so I left them in and they did much better second time around.
Peonies will be in full bloom very soon
The viburnum finally flowered after making us wait for ages!
Lost the label for this, think it’s a leucothoe – never seen it flower before.
And the ceanothus is going to be lovely but at the moment it’s keeping schtum…
This mahonia has been so very, very happy!
Aquilegia, starting to tower over everything else
Dicentra in full flower, centaurea just starting
Geum will be flowering very soon
Unlike its relative at the front, this ceanothus is flowering – just a day or so ago there was no more than a tinge of colour
Phacelia doing its thing
Weigela being a bit overshadowed by the phacelia, but still doing well
We will have gooseberries! (If the pigeons don’t get them first…)
A deciduous azalea that we bought last year, after it had finished flowering and was looking sorry for itself…
Veronica, already looking lovely
Lots more buds on things like the lavatera and the cistus, flowers starting to appear on raspberry and thornless blackberry, and everything generally getting on with it.
Hope yours is doing well too!
