This weekend we have:
- collected five tomato plants, a pot of marigolds and numerous asters and rudbeckias from my mum. Some of the tomato plants have just been moved into bigger pots and they are now settling into their new home in the greenhouse. The asters and rudbeckias will have to wait on the patio till we find homes for them in the beds and borders.
- noticed that we have a flower on the honeysuckle. Pleased and relieved about this as it’s been there for two years and though it’s grown, it hasn’t flowered till now. It’s a lovely dark red.
- seen five goldfinches feasting on the centaurea seed-heads. I’m glad I didn’t get round to dead-heading anything last weekend.
Next Saturday I want to actually do some gardening, but this weekend there are too many other things which need doing. By next weekend we might have some fruit to pick as well – the gooseberries are looking promising but at the moment are still quite small and hard. Raspberries are starting to form, as are blackberries, but I don’t think there will be many strawberries. We may have enough fruit for one summer pudding!
