You can never have too many hellebores! Mum had many years of trying unsuccessfully to grow them, so when she moved to live near us she was pleased to find several healthy happy hellebores in the new garden. They’re all flowering now and range from white to deep crimson in colour.
We popped over to see her today and went to the local pub for lunch. We all ate rather too much and needed some recovery time on the sofa with a cup of coffee when we got back to the bungalow. Refreshed, we went out to have a look at the back garden, braving the chilly wind.
A couple of general shots – a bit more lawn has been cut out near the patio, and the plan is to move the bird feeder so the birds have some nice big shrubs to hide in between feeds.
Winter jasmine and irises are flowering:
And the hellebores…
The dog was unimpressed, though whether this was because it was windy or because he would have preferred to carry on sleeping on the sofa, I couldn’t be sure. Probably a little of both.
By the way, if you’re on Facebook and would like to know more about what goes on in Benji’s little doggie brain, he has his own page – Benji the Wonder Dog (what else?). Pop over and give him a “like” 😉
